Frequently Asked Questions.
Whilst plantation shutters are usually chosen for their ability to limit light and enable airflow – all whilst looking extremely stylish – their insulative properties also provide an added benefit. Made from wood or aluminum, they provide a solid barrier when closed that helps to keep the heat in during winter; and out in those hot summer months. They’ll also seal right up against your window frame, creating an air barrier between the shutter and your window. When choosing shutters for your home, you’ll need to decide between internal and external versions. Simply put, the main difference between the two is that one’s installed on the outside of your window frame, while the other is placed on the inside. Because of this, you’ll find that external blinds have to be extra durable to tough-out the elements year-round; this includes the material and the paint. Internal blinds have it a little easier in this respect, with the focus shifting more towards versatility, customisation and style! Check out our recent projects for images of both installed.
